Dear Empower/Solstice Community,
Hard to believe it was TWENTY YEARS ago that Empower first opened its doors! Since then we have had thousands of people go through those doors and each and every one of you has contributed and helped to create the very special community that we are today!
We opened in 2004, in the new Commodore Plaza in Beverly as the first business in the space we still call home, as the first hot yoga studio on the North Shore. A small group of friends and family joined us for the “Grand Opening”. For many people it was their first time doing yoga, and for most people it was their first time experiencing Hot Yoga. Back in 2004, yoga was not very mainstream, and hot yoga was an especially novel idea!
Some of you may remember Empower when there was a small massage room in the back, as well as a little “day care” area. Starting with three teachers and a very small following, we offered one or two classes per day. The staff, schedule and community grew gradually, steadily and faithfully. Eventually we needed more space for the overflowing classes so the walls in the back came down.
We continued to thrive - and soon after Empower celebrated its tenth year, our sister studio, Solstice, opened its doors at MarketStreet! Our community flourished and spread across the North Shore - and the addition of hot Pilates classes help to fuel our strong continuing growth. Fast forward to today, Empower and Solstice together have over thirty amazing teachers, hundreds of monthly/yearly members, 8-12 classes per day and ONE big, spectacular, very special community!
To all the teachers who are still with us, and to those who have passed through, we THANK YOU for sharing your unique style, personality, energy, and love for teaching. We appreciate all you do, and all you share with our community. You guide each class with a friendly, caring warmth - with a smile as you push us to our edge. You have made us stronger in every way!
To the all our dedicated staff/assistants who get everyone checked in, help with “mat management”, clean-up and help keep things in order, we appreciate you and all you do. Thank you for your hard work and commitment.
And to everyone who has showed their love, support and loyalty through the years, we THANK YOU! Whether you have been taking classes since Day 1,“Day 500”, “Day 5000”, or just found us, we thank you. We thank you for your willingness to try that first hot yoga or hot Pilates class, and for your trust in us to spend your valuable time with us.
We appreciate you - your uniqueness and all you bring to our very special community. Everyone who has walked through those doors in the last 20 years has made our community what it is today and we could not be more grateful for being here with you, and FOR you for the last 20 years!
